Workshops and Presentations

​Partnering with local community organizations, churches, and schools, I have presented on a wide range of topics, including positive parenting, bullying prevention, helping preteens survive middle school, compassion fatigue for those in the human services fields, and how to manage when a loved one has a mental illness or substance abuse problem.
Workshops are conducted for groups of up to 15 people. Larger scale presentations are designed for up to one-hundred people, and trainings can fall anywhere in the middle.  Both workshops and presentations cover the same material, and are designed to meet the specific needs of your group or organization.

​​For Adults

When Someone You Love Has a Substance Abuse Problem
Whether the person in your life is a “problem user” or deep in the throes of addiction, relapse, or recovery, loving someone who is battling substance abuse can bring a wide range of emotions, including, distrust, anger, fear, and sadness to name a few. In this workshop, we will cover topics of enabling, co-dependency, and the Six Stages of Change. Find care, compassion, and support as we explore the unique role of loving someone with a substance abuse problem. ©

​When Someone You Love Has a Mental Illness
Loving someone who is battling an addiction or mental illness can bring uncertainty, confusion, and many ups and downs. Join others who are in similar situations, where we will learn about boundaries, limits, self-care, and finding the care and support you and your loved one need. ©

“YOU’RE NOT LISTENING!!”                - “What??”
Sound familiar? Sometimes even the most well intentioned people fail to communicate in a way that makes us feel heard and understood. In this workshop, participants will learn basic, easy to use communication techniques that they can begin to apply immediately in their relationships.​©

Burnout Prevention and Stress Management
An ideal workshop for anyone in the human services industry or caregiver role. Gain a greater understanding of your limitations and strengths, apply hands-on proven techniques to reduce your stress level, and discover how to recapture lost joy. ©

Positive Parenting*
Feeling frustrated when your kids just don’t listen? Are you tired of yelling or repeating yourself (or both)? Learn how to be proactive when disciplining your children, including communication and positive discipline. You will be able to apply these techniques immediately and begin to restore calm and peace into your home.©
 
Surviving the Teen Years*
Is the word Teenager causing you anxiety?  Has your pre-teen already started causing you stress? When you consider that these years are a period of intense growth, not only physically but morally and intellectually, it’s understandable that it is a time of confusion and upheaval for many families. We are here to help! This workshop is for Parents and/or Caregivers of pre-teens and teens. Key topics to be discussed are communication, privacy, boundaries, social life, social media, communication, & discipline.©

Bullying Prevention & Intervention
Whether you know someone who has been identified as a bully or who has been bullied, this workshop of for you! Learn why it happens, warning signs, and what you can do! This workshop is designed for parents, caregivers, and educators.©

Surviving Middle School
Middle School can be a tough time for anyone, given all of the changes happening in such a short period of time! T roundtable discussion series focuses on self-esteem, body image, relationships, parents, dealing with kids in class & hallways, and friendships. Develop strategies, troubleshoot, and learn what it means to be real.
